} Tikal occurs as German-style board game designed by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling and published in 1999 by Ravensburger in German and by Rio Grande Games in English.

Tikal won a Spiel des Jahres and the Deutscher Spiele Preis in 1999, and a Games Magazine Right Multiplayer Strategy Game around 2000. It was a number 1 game in the Mask Trilogy, followed by Java and Mexica.

Publisher's site. Each player is the director of an expedition intent on exploring Tikal in search of the secret paths that lead to temples and precious treasures. Players get points during four scoring rounds for each recovered treasure and for each temple that he controls.
